Baby Basics of Collier County, Inc. is making a difference in the lives of working families in Collier County, Florida.
Baby Basics of Collier County is people helping people. We share support, kindness and diapers with struggling families living
their lives in less than optimal circumstances.
The first Baby
Basics was founded in Ridgewood, NJ. The Collier County program was founded in 2004. In the first year the Collier County
program supported 30 babies. All the programs are run by volunteers and are supported by corporate and private donations.
Baby Basics does not receive any governmental funding. 100% of all contributions go toward the purchase of diapers unless
earmarked by the donor to cover administrative costs. In Collier County, families receive diapers biweekly.
Baby Basics of Collier County is currently under the umbrella of the Community
Foundation of Collier County, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. It is an all-volunteer organization providing and distributing
diapers to children of working poor families living in Collier County. Baby Basics provides the needed essential diapers
as well as a kind and caring community where families can share their joys and frustrations. To qualify, all participant
families must be working, cannot be receiveing government assistance/welfare, children must be under three years of age and
families must meet financial guideliines.
The Baby Basics National
organizations have given out over 2,000,000 diapers since 1992.
Our Mission
Because it is well documented that early intervention with infants is one of the best places for prevention of later
failure to thrive and because the stresses and needs of low income, working families often go unaddressed, Baby Basics exists
to provide hygienic essentials to babies and a system of emotional support and referrals for the families increasing their
opportunity to succeed.
